During one of the masterclasses the legendary Arthur Rubinstein at the the JMC in the 80’s he tought everyone a lesson in humility.

The young pianist Efraim Laor played tthe Sonata Op. 90 by Beethoven. When he finished playing Rubinstein smiled and said “I will tell you something. I like to tell young people what I think is good or bad… to work on tempi, singing and articulation. But I wanted to tell you that sometimes I learn myself something too from young pupils who play for me. In the second movement you played faster than I used to play and feel… and you are right! If I play this sometime again I will adopt your tempo. Thank you.”
