Masterclasses

Since its establishment and as a central part of its concept of excellence, the Jerusalem Music Centre has hosted international master classes with great artists including Murray Perahia, Isaac Stern, Arthur Rubinstein, Henryk Szeryng, Menachem Pressler, Ivri Gitlis, Miriam Fried, Tabea Zimmerman and many others.

The encounter of a young musician at the beginning of his career with international musicians is an essential and sometimes even crucial part of a professional career. At these encounters we offer young Israeli musicians a unique level of musical instruction on a global scale. Every meeting with such international artist embody a special opportunity for inspiration, learning and assimilating new ideas. Parallel to the long-term process that is done regularly with the personal music teachers, a meeting in a master class provides the opportunity to learn new information through a personal and focused view from the artist, and listening to demonstrations at the highest level. These encounters arouse great motivation in the student, awareness and attention to musical and technical details and assimilate mental and technical content that accompanies the student for many years to come.
