Ishay Lantner, clarinet

Yishai Lentner began his professional career as principal clarinetist in the Israeli Chamber Orchestra for four years before continuing his advanced studies with Prof. Johannes Peitz at the Hannover University of Music and Theater. His distinguished orchestral career includes roles as principal clarinetist in many prestigious ensembles, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Royal Northern Symphony. He has also appeared with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Since 2012, Lentner has held the position of principal clarinetist of the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra, where in 2016 he launched the innovative series “Clarinet? Of course!” to present the wide range of the clarinet repertoire alongside his orchestra colleagues.

In addition to his leading roles, Lentner was a long-time member of the East-West Divan Orchestra, where he played under the baton of renowned conductors Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez. His festival appearances span several continents, including appearances at the Røros Winterspiel in Norway, the Salta Festival in Argentina, the Kimito Festival in Finland, and the “Schönengen” Festival in Heimbach, where he collaborated with leading musicians such as Klaus Tonmann, Dale Clevenger, Nobuko Imai, Nicholas Altstadt, and Christian Tetzlaff. In addition, Lentner has worked regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic’s Berlin Ensemble and is a founding member of the “Musica Assoluta” in Hanover, which underlines his commitment to both orchestral and chamber music.
