Mozart’s writing for wind instruments in their various combinations is a family in itself within his diverse oeuvre. He raised writing for the “harmonia” (the contemporary name for the woodwind and horn ensemble) to levels previously unknown, and he dedicated to it some of the most moving and expressive modes in his musical palette.
