The JMC’s programme for outstanding young singers combines masterclasses and courses for a group of over 20 young singers from throughout the country up to the age of 20, directed by Zvi Semel. The blend of activity days, weekends and residential courses include: ● Individual vocal lessons ● Sessions with vocal coaches, work on diction in different languages ● Sessions of chamber music ● Lessons on stage presence and acting as well as concerts participation. The participants of the Programme learn to adjust to the highest demands of professional singing, and during the scholar year will meet the best teachers from the country and around the world for intensive work days and masterclasses. Teachers include Zvi Semel (musical director of the course), Anat Efrati and Dana Glaser (vocal teachers), Yuval Zorn (vocal conductor) and Iris Goren (movement instructor for singers). During last year, we had additional singers and teachers join our staff: teachers Efrat Ben Noon, Zehava Gal, Sharon Rostorf-Zamir, Rona Israel-Kolat and Marina Levitt. Also teaching in the Programme were opera director Shirit Lee Weis, singers instructor Ido Ariel and musicians and lecturers Oded Shomroni, Dr. Amit Wiener and Ram Reuven. The JMC is proud to have brought the world’s leading singers, such as conductor Daniel Cohen, baritone Dietrich Henschel (Germany) and counter-tenor Andreas Scholl (Switzerland/Germany), as well as vocal accompanist Graham Johnson to conduct masterclasses for our participants. In the coming summer semester of the programme we will host Prof. Jeanette Favaro-Reuter who will guide masterclasses for singers and singing teachers.
